Vanessa is an award-winning global diversity, equity and inclusion practitioner with more than 10 years’ experience creating and leading diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for large, matrixed organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors. She is an Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Qualified Administrator. Vanessa holds a Master's degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern University. In the summer of 2017 she studied at The London School of Economics and Political Science, where she earned a Certificate in strategic management.
Her enterprising and innovative approach to diversity and inclusion has led to her being regarded as a thought leader. Vanessa is the creator of The Workplace Compliance-Culture Spectrum, a diversity and inclusion educational tool. She recently began working with a publisher on her first book about self-authenticity in the workplace. She is also working on a future publication about EEO for business leaders. Vanessa's subject matter expertise includes: EEO, affirmative action, racial and gender equity, institutional and systemic racism, conscious/unconscious biases and mitigation strategies, to name a few.
Vanessa's professional background in diversity and inclusion is broad and includes: disability, gender equity, racial and ethnic, sexual orientation and gender identity, generational differences, veterans and more. She also has experience creating and leading specialized trainings to promote and enhance cultural competency and intelligence. In addition to consulting, she has worked in multiple industries, such as banking and financial services, legal services, agriculture and food production, and social research/healthcare.
In 2017 one of Vanessa's signature projects: The Prince Diversity and Inclusion Exhibit: A Retrospective was featured on NBC news affiliate KARE 11 in the Twin Cities area.
